Feyenoord already line up replacement for Arne Slot after Liverpool links

Feyenoord have already lined up a potential replacement for Arne Slot amid claims he’s the favourite to land the Liverpool job.

TBR Football confirmed today that Liverpool have opened talks with Feyenoord after Arne Slot impressed during talks with club chiefs.

The Dutchman has emerged as a firm favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.

Slot picked up his second piece of silverware during his spell in Rotterdam over the weekend, with Feyenoord winning the Dutch Cup.

The 45-year-old delivered an Eredivisie title last time out and while PSV look set to clinch the crown this year, Feyenoord will have big shoes to fill should Slot secure a switch to Anfield.

Feyenoord already lining up Slot replacement amid Liverpool talks

The Mirror reports that Feyenoord are eyeing a move for FC Twente boss Joseph Oosting.

Should Slot complete a switch to Liverpool, Oosting will be one of their top managerial targets.

It’s noted that after Liverpool opened talks over a move for Slot, the Dutch outfit are weighing up their options.

Former Manchester United star Robin van Persie is coaching Feyenoord’s Under-18s side but is not currently under consideration to replace Slot.

Slot to Liverpool could be close

With Feyenoord seemingly already lining up replacements for Slot, that usually indicates a club is resigned to losing their manager.

Of course, it would be risky for the Dutch outfit to not even consider replacements amid interest from a huge club like Liverpool.

Should talks between Slot and Liverpool continue to run smoothly, you’d imagine the Dutchman would be keen on a move to Anfield and the Premier League.

It would represent a huge step up for Slot, having only managed in the Eredivisie for a total of four and a half years.

Nevertheless, his exciting brand of football has led to success throughout his short career and he’s been lauded as an ‘amazing‘ manager by former Tottenham man Michel Vorm.

Slot’s approach would certainly go down well with Liverpool supporters as a manager who loves to play on the front foot and press high up the pitch, much like Klopp.
