Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool future has been under question ever since the 2024-25 season came to a close.

This lack of form has caused Liverpool to explore the market for a new regular scoring number nine in Hugo Ekitike, with Arne Slot likely looking to use Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in their natural positions more often.

However, seeing as though Ekitike is now close to sealing his Liverpool switch, Nunez’s next club has been brought up once again after moves to Napoli and Atletico Madrid have fallen through.

Due to the fee Liverpool are demanding, however, Igor Tudor’s men could end up waiting until the ‘last weeks’ of the window with the hope that Liverpool would be more willing to let him go on a year-long deal with an option or obligation to buy.

Over the last three years, Liverpool have tried to stick with Nunez and get the best out of him.

Players such as Mohamed Salah and Diaz have both carried Liverpool over the last couple of seasons, with a lot of pressure being put on Nunez’s shoulders to deliver.
