Liverpool have expressed an interest in Sevilla forward Lucas Ocampos, according to reports, and the La Liga outfit are determined for Takumi Minamino to be included in any potential deal.
They say that Julen Lopetegui could consider a lower fee for Ocampos if Liverpool were willing to make Minamino part of the equation.
However, considering both he and Minamino are the same age, we don’t think Liverpool should take such a financial gamble to land the former AC Milan star.
Of course, Liverpool would benefit from an added source of attacking firepower, but sacrificing Minamino to do so doesn’t bode well with us.
Sevilla currently value the former Monaco talisman at £56 million, which is quite an extortionate fee given the fact he has clocked up just four goals in 21 La Liga appearances this season.
Minamino, 26, has made the perfect start under Ralph Hasenhutt, too, clocking up two goals in his opening three Southampton appearances.
Meanwhile, Ocampos has been with Sevilla since 2019 following a four-year spell with Marseille.
