Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been consistently linked to Liverpool ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.

The Nigerian international has been a key part of Fulham’s campaign thus far, and has racked up 24 appearances across all competitions having been injured earlier in the season.

Matip will miss the rest of the season following an ACL injury he sustained during Liverpool’s 4-3 win against Fulham on December 3.

Currently, there are no ongoing talks between Matip and the club about a contract renewal, indicating that he is likely to leave Anfield when his contract concludes this summer.

With Virgil van Dijk not getting younger at 32 and Ibrahima Konate’s injury record leaving a lot to be desired, Adarabioyo could be a very smart and frugal pick-up for the Reds.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form recently, helping the Cottagers to three clean sheets in their last seven Premier League outings – all of which he started.

It is believed that his status as a homegrown player could play in his favour, with many tops clubs struggling to balance the homegrown element and the quality of player.

Just last summer, Jurgen Klopp admitted that Liverpool were hesitant to let go of Caoimhin Kelleher due to his status as a homegrown player.

But it seems that Fulham are not willing to part ways with their defensive stalwart so easily.

Fulham to offer Tosin Adarabioyo fresh terms

A report has claimed that Fulham are currently preparing a new offer for Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of his deal expiring in June.

It is believed that the player himself has not made up his mind about leaving Fulham as he wants to ensure he is playing week-in week-out.

Although the Nigeria international and the London club have not come to an agreement as of yet, Fulham will reportedly try and make him the highest paid player at the club.

After joining Fulham from Manchester City, in 2020, Tosin has made 131 appearances overall, tallying two assists and five goals.

At times this season, the Reds have been suspect at the back and have often gone behind first in games before turning them around.

The last time Liverpool bought a centre-back was Ibrahima Konate back in 2021.

While Joe Gomez has had a renaissance this season, it is perhaps time for Liverpool to refresh their backline – be it Adarabioyo or another option.
