Liverpool fans are still expecting their club to make some major moves in what remains of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have done some impressive business so far, securing three big signings for the first team.
But although Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz will all add plenty to the Liverpool squad, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are not done just yet.
Liverpool could do with bringing a new striker into the team and have been heavily linked with the likes of Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike.
Having had an excellent season with Eintracht Frankfurt, Ekitike has emerged as a genuine option over recent weeks.
However, the Frenchman will not come cheap.
Reports have suggested that Liverpool may have to pay up to £86m for Ekitike.
Interestingly, though, there could be the prospect of a potential discount coming into play.

Having scored 21 goals for Eintracht in 2024/25, Ekitike is one of the most coveted strikers on the European market.
According to Give Me Sport, though, Liverpool may have been handed a ‘golden opportunity’ to lead the race for the 22-year-old.

They claim that Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all reluctant to enter into a potential bidding war for Ekitike, leaving Liverpool with more or less a free run at signing him.
But that will reportedly not come without its complications, as they claim Eintracht are still determined to land their full £86m asking price for the striker.

While the German side are said to be unwilling to lower their demands for now, though, it is also claimed that there could be a reduction in the terms ‘in the final weeks of the transfer window.’
This discount would reportedly only be on Eintracht’s terms, however, and may not even happen at all.
The Bundesliga side are also said to be aiming for Ekitike’s future to be sorted out well before then.
Interestingly, Give Me Sport also claim that Liverpool are ready to enter into negotiations with Eintracht for Ekitike.
Darwin Nunez will reportedly have to be offloaded first, but once the Uruguayan is out of the picture it’s claimed Liverpool will move ahead on Ekitike.
In our opinion, there is little chance of the Reds sanctioning a deal to sign the Frenchman for close to £90m.
He has potential to be an excellent striker, but having been somewhat stung by Nunez, Liverpool will surely only pay such big money for more of a sure thing.
As a result, it would not be a surprise to see the Reds hold out for a while on Ekitike, and wait to see whether any such discount will appear.
