Liverpool have been waiting for Alexander Isak to become available and their patience might be about to pay off.
The Reds wanting Isak is the transfer saga of all transfer sagas, with this a potential transfer that has dragged on far longer than many originally anticipated.
At the beginning, it looked like a deal that could be done with good effect after the Swede expressed his desire to leave, with Newcastle lining up replacements, which was a good sign for Liverpool.
However, actually signing another striker has proven difficult for the Magpies and they are refusing to sanction a sale until they have one, hence why the Reds are now just having to play the waiting game.
Things were starting to get a little messy, which could have been both good and bad for Liverpool, but Isak’s latest decision might just be the biggest yet, with it surely indicating to Newcastle that they must sell him this summer.

When players express their desire to leave, a lot of clubs grant them their wish to avoid any hostility or damage to reputation for either side, although this story has had huge implications for both.
Isak has gone from adored to almost hated by all Newcastle fans, while the Magpies themselves have been on the wrong end of a few jibes regarding their failed transfer activity.
Things could also be about to get a whole lot worse too as according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Isak is adamant that he has played his last game for Newcastle and will never represent them again.

The report states that even if the 25-year-old is not sold this summer, the Swede regards his career at the club over and has no desire whatsoever to be reintegrated back into the squad.
Isak is still said to be training alone and his manager Eddie Howe sent him a fierce warning by saying he needs to earn the right to train with the squad, something he clearly has no intention of doing.
Although this is rather messy on Newcastle’s side, Liverpool might be watching on from afar with a subtle grin, knowing that they now probably have to sell him, to help both their reputation and finances.
Isak wants Liverpool and vice versa, and with what is now unfolding at Newcastle, it feels only a matter of when the Swede makes the move instead of if.
Virgil van Dijk has also stated the need for attacking reinforcements, suggesting the players know an arrival could be imminent, while the sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have left them short and indicated Isak is now needed more than ever.
Liverpool could be in line for a discount for the striker as a fee of £130m plus add-ons is rumoured to now be enough to make a move happen, something the Reds will very likely offer if given the green light.
The season might just be a few days away, but by the time gameweek two rolls around, which ironically is Newcastle against Liverpool, Isak might just have switched teams and created a major talking point that everyone will want in on.
