Liverpool Inquires About Brentford's Yoane Wissa as Alternative Forward
Liverpool have expressed interest in Brentford's forward Yoane Wissa as an alternative option to Alexander Isak in their attacking lineup. The Premier League club has reportedly made initial enquiries about the 28-year-old striker, who has been attracting attention from multiple top clubs this summer.
Since joining Brentford from Lorient in 2021 for around £7.2 million, Wissa has developed into a key player, especially during Ivan Toney's absences. He enjoyed a standout 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing 5 assists in 39 games across all competitions, boosting his reputation as a reliable and versatile attacker capable of playing across the frontline.
Despite this interest, Brentford is determined to keep hold of Wissa unless a significant offer is made, reportedly demanding over £50 million to part ways with him. This valuation aims to deter suitors, given Brentford’s reluctance to sell both Wissa and fellow forward Bryan Mbeumo amid strong Premier League interest in both players.
Besides Liverpool, notable clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest have shown interest in Wissa. Tottenham has been keen on strengthening their attack this summer, while Forest have made multiple bids, including a £22 million offer earlier in the year, which Brentford rejected.
Brentford’s strategy appears to be carefully managing potential departures, especially with Mbeumo leaning towards a move to Manchester United and Wissa attracting various Premier League suitors. With only one year left on Wissa’s contract and his age reaching 29 in September, interest is likely to escalate in this transfer window.
