Philipp Max is interesting Liverpool, according to Sport, with the Reds looking to provide competition and supporter for Andy Robertson.

The 25-year-old would make for a decent backup with his style of play suited to the way Liverpool play.

In a report discussing Barcelona’s transfer intentions, Liverpool are named as competitors in the race to secure Max’s signature this summer with a fee of €20million (£17.9m).

His reported transfer fee is very affordable and the kind of price that should be paid to sign a backup and is far more reasonable than the €50million (£44.9m) that Real Betis is demanding, according to a report from Sport in June.

His lack of cover makes going into the new season very risky as an injury to the Scotsman could leave Liverpool exposed in an important game which could have severe consequences.

The Brazilian is arguably the better player but is a bit too pricey given that he’s not likely to play more than 10-15 times per season.

Since Alberto Moreno left the club upon the expiry of his contract, Robbo is now the only senior left-back at the club.
