Report: Liverpool key man could miss start of 2019/20 season after injury on international duty

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson suffered a hamstring injury on international duty with Scotland and could miss the start of next season, according to Sky Sports.

They report that the Reds key man sat out his side’s trip to Belgium last night, as Steve Clarke’s side went down 3-0 against the might of Roberto Martinez’s side.

Robertson had a long hard season with Liverpool and looks to have picked up a hamstring injury at the very last, with the report expressly stating he could well miss the start of 2019/20.

Hamstring injuries can take some time to heal and it wouldn’t be good for any player, especially one who operates at such high intensity as Robertson, were to rush back from it.

Robertson is undoubtedly the best left back in the Premier League now and it’s tough to see a better one in world football right now, such has been his evolution under Jurgen Klopp.

But with Alberto Moreno set to leave Anfield at the end of June, James Milner is perhaps the best replacement if Robertson is absent.

Left back cover is perhaps Liverpool’s biggest weakness in the squad right now, and it would add some urgency to that situation if Robertson were to be out for the start of next term.
