Liverpool have asked to be kept in in the loop in regards to the developing situation of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, according to reports.

This comes from 90min. They say that the Reds, as well as Manchester United maintain an active interest in the 23-year-old forward.

Who is he?

En-Nesyri burst onto the scene in England recently after West Ham United manager David Moyes tabled a bid of £22.5 million to sign the 35-time Morrocan international last summer, per the Daily Star.

And in an attempt to avoid a similar scenario materialising this summer, Julen Lopetegui is looking to tie En-Nesyri down to a new contract to fend off potential suitors come to the end of the 2020/21 campagin.

His current contract at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium isn’t due to expire until 2025.

It’s easy to see why Sevilla are desperate to maintain the centre-forward’s services, too, given his impressive goal return this season. En-Nesyri has clocked up a stunning 17 goals in all competitions this season.

And as a result of En-Nesyri’s sustained brilliance, Sevilla are currently locked in an enthralling title race in the Spanish top-flight, with Lopetegui’s men trailing league leaders Atletico Madrid by 10 points, having played a game less.

Coming in at a towering 6ft 2in, En-Nesyri has transcended his game to become the focal point of a Sevilla team who have the joint-best defensive record in La Liga.

Given his physical attributes and natural eye for goal, En-Nesyri could be identified as a viable alternative to Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has struggled for goals of late, after all, having clocked up just six goals in 35 appearances this season.

Also, Liverpool do not have a recognised central attacking alternative at Klopp’s disposal other than Divock Origi.

It was pretty telling, too, that despite Firmino’s struggles on Saturday against Everton, the Belgian striker remained rooted to the bench until a contentious penalty put the game out of Liverpool’s reach.

Indeed, Origi will always be revered as an Anfield legend following his heroics en-route to European Cup No.6. Still, this won’t been enough to save his Liverpool future, which is slowly diminishing with every passing game-week.

After all, ever since that iconic Champions League-winning goal in Madrid, Origi has scored just seven times in 58 appearances (20 starts). His only contribution this season came against League One outfit Lincoln City.

It’s no mystery, then, that Liverpool require an injection of quality, dynamism and innovation in through the middle. The Reds need their owners to show ambition and back Klopp in the summer transfer market.

Whether or not the long-term solution to Liverpool’s attacking conundrum is Sevilla striker En-Nesyri , however, remains to be seen.

The early signs for the former Malaga talisman look positive, but it would be foolish to jump the gun in regards to a potential transfer only weeks after the conclusion of the previous window.
