Liverpool have the rare chance to steal a march on their transfer plans after wrapping up the Premier League title with four games to spare.
In reality, talks with potential targets start long before the season ends, but with nothing at all to play for, the Reds can now put full focus on recruitment.
With no pressure on any of Liverpool’s remaining fixtures, Arne Slot can use the time to solidify exactly what needs to happen in the summer.
One thing Liverpool have likely known for months is that they’re going to need a new starting right-back for 2025/26.
In our opinion, Slot should play Conor Bradley for the rest of the season to determine whether the 21-year-old is truly ready to step into Trent Alexander-Arnold’s shoes.
But regardless of if Bradley is the man or not, Liverpool need a new right-back.
And with the summer window well on the way to opening, the Reds have reportedly made an approach for Flamengo’s Wesley Franca.

Wesley has been linked with Liverpool recently having been a regular starter at Flamengo for the past three years.
Still only 21, the right-back is a two-cap Brazil international who looks destined for the European stage at some time in the near future.

Reports from April confirmed Wesley’s agents have been in England as they look to make that move happen sooner rather than later.
Liverpool are one of the teams to have supposedly met with his representatives.
And according to Caught Offside, the Reds have now stepped up their interest in Wesley even further.

They claim Liverpool have made ‘informal approaches’ to Flamengo in order to find out the parameters of a summer deal.
However, the Reds will reportedly face strong competition from Chelsea, Man City and even Arsenal.
The next three weeks could turn out to be critical in setting Liverpool up for a strong summer window.
Of course, it should be noted that just because the Reds have nothing to play for it doesn’t necessarily make it easier to get deals started.
Clubs across the planet have key games and are fighting for titles.
Nevertheless, the calmness at Anfield right now should hopefully lead to Liverpool being able to get a head start on some of their rivals.
In terms of Wesley, it sounds as though their is plenty of competition for his signature.
But with Chelsea, City and Arsenal all still preoccupied on the pitch, maybe Liverpool can jump ahead off it.
Wesley has been described as ‘exceptional‘ by Flamengo manager Filipe Luis, with the former Chelsea left-back seemingly expecting the right-back to end up in Europe before long.
