Liverpool will host Brighton at Anfield in the Premier League to welcome the return of club football after the international break.

The Reds should be eager to return to winning ways in the league after the prior 1-1 draw with Manchester City at home before the international break.

Brighton will represent a stern challenge for Jurgen Klopp’s men, with De Zerbi’s side always proving tricky customers for Liverpool.

Last year, the Reds succumbed to a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Seagulls – although it was in the FA Cup.

This season, Liverpool battled to a 2-2 draw with Brighton in the Premier League with De Zerbi’s side proving they can mix in with the big boys on their day.

Like Klopp, the Brighton boss will have numerous injury concerns heading into the game – with key man Kaoru Mitoma already ruled out for Sunday.

But it seems Liverpool may have received a potential injury boost ahead of this weekend.

Curtis Jones could be in contention for Liverpool vs Brighton

After showing promise for many years on Merseyside, Curtis Jones has reached new heights as a player and emerged as a significant member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad this season.

He has exhibited immense growth at Liverpool, showcasing his versatility and flair on the field.

Jones emerged as a vital creative force, orchestrating midfield play with precision passes and contributing crucial goals.

The 23-year-old however has missed the last month due to an ankle injury sustained against Brentford in February.

He was unlucky at the timing of his injury, with the Liverpool man surely deserving of a senior England call-up at this stage.

Nevertheless, Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo has reported that Jones could be in contention for Sunday’s clash at Anfield.

He writes:

“Curtis Jones, absent since mid-February, is close to a return to team training and could be considered [for Brighton].”

Jones has managed to rack up 28 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with five goals and three assists in the process.

The Reds boss has trusted Jones to start in some of the biggest games this season, including Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad and the 2-1 loss away to Tottenham Hotspur.
