Liverpool’s interest in Florian Wirtz has hit new heights in recent days, with the Bayer Leverkusen man emerging as a key target for the Reds.
The Germany international has been one of the best players in Europe in the last two seasons, with Liverpool now eyeing Wirtz as a marquee signing this summer as Arne Slot looks to bring in a world-class attacking midfielder.
With Leverkusen commanding a huge transfer fee for Wirtz, though, Liverpool will almost certainly have to break their club-record outlay for a single player for the 22-year-old, though most fans would agree that the money spent could be worth it in the long term.
And Liverpool are now seemingly ready to facilitate this transfer by selling one of their best performing players this season.

According to Sport, Liverpool are looking into the possibility of selling Luis Diaz to sign Wirtz, with Leverkusen’s latest demands of €110m (£92m) something that the Reds are willing to meet after a few sales out of Anfield.
Much like Liverpool’s interest in Wirtz, FC Barcelona’s eagerness to sign Diaz has increased rapidly in recent days, with the Catalan giants making the Colombia international their priority attacking target for the summer.
And Liverpool’s keenness on Wirtz could lead to the Reds selling Diaz to Barcelona at a good price, especially with contract talks with the winger being paused for some time as a move to the La Liga champions continues to grow.

Indeed, the 28-year-old winger has enjoyed his best season yet for the Reds, with Alan Shearer lauding Diaz as ‘sensational’ having found his feet under Slot, yet offloading the forward to bring in Wirtz could be a move that a lot of Liverpool fans will get behind.
With Barcelona ready to spend big on Diaz this summer, it makes sense why the former FC Porto man is being earmarked by Liverpool as the most likely player to offload to bring in the funds needed to sign Wirtz.
However, there are more players in the squad who could also be considered for a similar fate, with Harvey Elliott valued at £45m and wanted by Wolves as the England youth international looks set to potentially leave Anfield this summer.
With Liverpool also looking to sell Darwin Nunez, losing the Uruguay international’s wages and picking up a good fee could help the Reds in trying to sign Wirtz, with a big squad overhaul expected regardless of if the Merseyside giants land the German star.
