Liverpool are expected to sell Xherdan Shaqiri in the near future, with Napoli and Lazio both in tough with his agents, Goal say.

Indeed, Gary Neville once said on Sky that Shaqiri simply wasn’t good enough to start for Liverpool.

Liverpool apparently expected to sell Shaqiri last summer, but he ended up sticking around and playing sporadically throughout the course of last campaign.

Liverpool want to sell Shaqiri, though, and have no interest in looking at temporary deals.

But Liverpool still consider the attacking midfielder to be expendable.

The likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane both didn’t score as prolifically as expected last season, and Liverpool are likely to want to increase competition for them both, rather than decrease it.

But it would also surely put pressure on Liverpool to bring in another attacker.
