Liverpool have a lot of work ahead of them in the transfer market as they settle in for a busy summer.
The Reds have plenty of positions to bolster as a matter of priority ahead of a Premier League title defence next season.
As things stand, Liverpool are mainly targeting a pair of new full-backs, an attacking midfielder, a centre-back and a centre-forward.
But it is possible that Arne Slot and Richard Hughes do not stop there.
If the right player comes along, the Liverpool squad could do with adding another central midfielder.
Given the quality of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, there is no need to break the bank in this department, but Slot could do with a little more quality help.
And as the window simmers ahead of its opening, Liverpool are reportedly moving cautiously ahead with plans to add a top young midfielder.

It’s clear that Liverpool’s midfield was one of the major reasons for the Reds winning the Premier League this term.
Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai in particular formed a strong base for Liverpool to build on.
Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott played their part, too.

With Elliott sounding likely to move on, though, and question marks over Endo’s future as well, something else may be needed this summer.
And according to German outlet BILD, that could arrive in the shape of Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham.

They claim that while Borussia Dortmund believe they have the best chance of landing Bellingham this summer, Liverpool are now considering a move for the 19-year-old.
The Reds are said to be ‘acting cautiously’ in their interest, though, with Chelsea also claimed to have entered the race.
Dortmund are reportedly willing to pay £25m to land the brother of former star man Jude, while the younger Bellingham is set to make a decision over his future after Sunderland’s playoff final with Sheffield United on Saturday.
Due to his brother being one of the superstars of world football, Bellingham is always going to be a name worth tracking.
The truth is that the teenager is developing into a really good player in his own right and for £25m could be exactly the squad option Liverpool are looking for.
Jude Bellingham called Jobe ‘so powerful‘ in an assessment in December 2024 and the Sunderland youngster has only got even better since.
After scoring four goals and providing three assists in 40 matches, Bellingham was named as the Championship’s joint Young Player of the Season alongside Black Cats teammate Chris Rigg.
Dortmund still appear to be favourites to snare their second Bellingham this summer, but there’s a lot of reasons why a hijack would make sense for Liverpool.
