Liverpool remains interested in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who has expressed a desire to leave Newcastle this summer. Despite this, Newcastle’s position is firm, valuing the Swedish forward at around £150 million and currently not willing to sell. Liverpool reportedly made an offer between £120 million and £130 million, but this has not swayed Newcastle, meaning Liverpool may currently only admire Isak from afar.
Isak did not join Newcastle’s pre-season tour in Asia due to a minor thigh injury and has informed the club he wishes to explore transfer options, although no formal transfer request has been submitted yet. Newcastle’s manager Eddie Howe expressed hope that Isak will remain at the club, but acknowledged the uncertainty regarding his future. Isak’s contract with Newcastle still has three years remaining.
In addition to Liverpool’s pursuit, the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal has reportedly offered Isak a lucrative contract reportedly worth £600,000 per week, tax-free. However, Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market expert, emphasized that Isak’s priority is a move to Liverpool rather than to Al-Hilal, Chelsea, or Manchester United.
The situation remains complex, as Liverpool appear keen to secure Isak but may need to raise their offer or await Newcastle’s willingness to negotiate. Isak himself seems determined to join Liverpool, reinforcing his preference for a move to Anfield amid competing interest.
