Liverpool were reportedly in talks to sign Uruguay wonderkid Fabricio Diaz before the youngster decided to join Qatar side Al-Gharafa. the Reds were in talks with Liverpool Montevideo over signing the 20-year-old midfielder, who this summer led Uruguay to the U-20s FIFA World Cup. A combative midfielder over his ‘perfect’ balance, Diaz is one of the most exciting prospects in all of South America and was courted by many of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, to the shock of many, Diaz has this summer decided to make the move to Qatar, with the youngster still having dreams of playing in Europe in the next few years. With the Reds one of the sides holding talks with Montevideo Liverpool over Diaz, the Anfield side will no doubt be puzzled by the 20-year-old’s decision to move to Qatar.
