Liverpool are wasting no time in spending big on new signings this summer, with as many as three new players potentially joining in the next few days.
Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz are on the verge of joining the Reds, while Liverpool are close to landing Milos Kerkez from AFC Bournemouth, with the trio all likely to join in the ten-day summer transfer window that opens later this week.
With three key positions potentially solved before the month of June has even started, Liverpool have given themselves plenty of time to zone in on other areas of the squad that still need investment but are yet to have a definitive target to chase after.
However, it appears that the Anfield side could be about to declare who their main striking target will be for the summer with Liverpool now missing out on Alexander Isak.

According to Marca, Liverpool’s interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is ‘growing’, with the Argentine international’s impressive form this season catching the eye of the Reds, as well as Arsenal and FC Barcelona.
Alvarez joined the La Liga giants from Manchester City last summer and has since become quite the hit at Atletico, with the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner hitting 29 goals in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side, as well as registering seven assists.

With a release clause worth £125m according to Yahoo Sports, Liverpool could have to break the bank once again this summer if they are to bring Alvarez back to England, though Atletico are resigned to losing their star striker after just one year.

Yet with Liverpool moving to sign Alvarez last year before making the switch to the Spanish capital, there could be some truth in the Reds’ renewed and growing interest in the 25-year-old striker, who could be exceptional for the Premier League champions under Arne Slot.
With Liverpool set to spend a club-record fee to bring in Wirtz from Leverkusen, the odds of also signing Alvarez in the same transfer window look slim, even with the Argentine an ideal fit for the Reds to lead the line.
Yet Liverpool’s chances of signing the former Manchester City star can increase greatly depending on which players the Anfield side decide to sell this summer, with Jarell Quansah linked with an Anfield exit as Harvey Elliott recently added fuel to a potential departure over the weekend.
Indeed, selling homegrown academy graduates for big money could give Liverpool the freedom needed to spend big on another player, and with Isak not for sale, Alvarez could be the next big thing for Slot in the transfer market.
