Liverpool are ready to make some big moves this summer after seeing the transfer window officially open on Sunday.

The Reds have already been busy, bringing in Jeremie Frimpong and pushing hard to have Florian Wirtz join him.

But Liverpool will not be finished there.

With a number of departures expected to boost their already substantial transfer kitty, the Reds are being predicted to really splash the cash.

Plenty of the expenditure is likely to be on bringing a new starting striker to Anfield.

Darwin Nunez is likely to be sold and with Arne Slot unable to rely on Diogo Jota either, something has to be done in the market.

Alexander Isak is ‘superb‘ and a dream target for Liverpool, but all the signs point to Newcastle being unwilling to let the Swede leave.

While Isak may remain off the table for now, though, Liverpool are reportedly ready to come back in for Magpies teammate Anthony Gordon.

Liverpool almost signed Gordon last year, with reports suggesting that the Scouser was all ready for a medical before Newcastle pulled the plug.

Gordon’s move to Anfield was based on the fact that the Magpies had some serious PSR issues in 2024.

Fast forward to 2025, and although those worries are not as prevalent, TeamTALK claim that they could still factor into Newcastle’s business.

With Eddie Howe said to be ‘needing to keep a close eye on his spending’, it is claimed that Newcastle could be open to a sale for Gordon.

The 24-year-old is reportedly more likely to be sold than either Isak or Tino Livramento, with Newcastle said to have put an £80m price tag on his head.

After trying to get him last year, Liverpool’s interest has reportedly never faded and while Gordon is said to be happy on Tyneside, it’s claimed that he would also be tempted by a switch to join his boyhood club.

Liverpool are reportedly set to raise big funds through the sales of Nunez and Luis Diaz to Saudi Arabia, with Gordon potentially coming in as a direct replacement for the Colombian.

After news that Al Nassr are pushing to sign Diaz from Liverpool, it seems likely that Slot is going to need a new left winger this summer.

There is of course a chance that the Reds resist the money Al Nassr are set to offer, but it may be hard to turn down for a 28-year-old coming into the final two years of his contract.

If Diaz does go, Liverpool will certainly need to replace him.

And after they stood on the verge of a deal for Gordon last summer, the former Everton man is clearly of interest.

Having said that, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would see value in spending £80m on Gordon.
