Liverpool are set to begin the second leg of their pre-season this weekend as they fly out to the Far East.

The Reds kicked their summer off in emotional circumstances last Sunday, playing the first game since the tragic death of Diogo Jota.

While Jota will always be remembered at Liverpool and throughout the footballing world, the sad truth is that the show must go on at Anfield.

The Reds have another big season to prepare for as they aim to retain their Premier League title, and, as upsetting as it may be, they must move forward without Jota.

Nevertheless, the tour to Hong Kong and Japan may look a little different than originally planned, with media duties for players and staff potentially limited.

Either way, Liverpool are set to fly on Sunday.

Marinos, it has been revealed whether Alexis Mac Allister is likely to be ready to feature.

There have been some injury concerns over Mac Allister after the Argentine missed the final two games of Liverpool’s season and has not been spotted in training ever since.

“Alexis will not play for us this season anymore,” Arne Slot said on May 19th.

“He needs rest at this moment in time to recover completely and to be ready for the start of next season, but it will be no problem for him to be back next season.”

“I think he played throughout the last part of the season with the Argentinian mentality he has.

Never gives up, no matter what he feels, but it is not smart to play a player that has, not a big injury but not something to take a risk with.”

With Liverpool already missing Ryan Gravenberch for the start of the season and Stefan Bajcetic recovering from hamstring surgery, Slot could do with having Mac Allister back.

Thankfully, according to The Athletic, the No.

10 is likely to join the rest of the Liverpool squad in heading out on the tour of Asia.

They claim that all of those who missed the Preston game including Florian Wirtz, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Alisson Becker and Mac Allister should be on the plane this Sunday.

Mac Allister’s return, along with the rest of the big hitters in the Liverpool squad, mean that Slot is working with a much stronger group than last summer.

12 months ago, the new Liverpool head coach was missing pretty much all of his starting XI during the tour of the USA.

Having everyone back in good time this year should hopefully lead to an even fresher Liverpool team for the start of the campaign.

And, Bajcetic aside, it appears that Slot quite literally has a full complement available to him.

As of now, if Mac Allister is back, the Spanish midfielder is the only first team player nursing a fitness problem.
