Indeed, this was to be expected, but after interest was shown in Andy Robertson at the start of the transfer window, it was unclear where the future would be headed for Tsimikas.
As much as Tsimikas would likely want to stay at Liverpool and challenge for the Premier League again, it’s hard to see how he’d be given any game time with Kerkez, Robertson and Joe Gomez all ahead of him.
The left-back is still just 29 years old, which means that he’s just about to enter the prime years of his career.
Tsimikas has never complained about being the Reds’ second-choice left-back and was even dubbed “brilliant” by Michael Owen at one point.
However, since Kerkez is only 21 years old and Robertson only has a year left on his current deal, selling the Greek Scouser makes the most sense.
