Saudi Arabia’s presence in football is growing by the year, and this summer looks set to be another big one for the Middle Eastern nation.
The FIFA Club World Cup will give neutral supporters their first real glimpse at what the best from Saudi Arabia have to offer, with Al-Hilal set to face off against Mexican giants Pachuca, Austrian side RB Salzburg and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future club Real Madrid.
With three Liverpool players wanted by Saudi Arabian clubs this summer, there is likely to be some dialogue between teams from the Middle East and the Reds, especially with a number of players expected to leave Anfield in the transfer window.
Yet Al-Hilal now have their eyes on someone at Liverpool beyond the pitch, who could be tempted by a move one day.

According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool’s CEO of football Michael Edwards has been approached by Al-Hilal over taking on a new senior role with the Saudi Arabian giants, a proposal that is expected to be rejected by the Anfield official.
However, as per the report, Edwards does see appeal in speaking to interested clubs wishing to overhaul their sporting department where he would be given the freedom to build an executive team and lead on his own accord.
Edwards was rehired by Liverpool last summer after leaving the club in 2022, with the former sporting director now taking on a new role overseeing the entire footballing operation at Anfield as well as within FSG’s network of clubs once up and running.

Liverpool’s FSG owners are interested in buying Malaga, and such a move could be key in helping Edwards remain with the Merseyside giants, especially if a club like Al-Hilal is already starting to tempt the Anfield official.
Edwards returning to Liverpool last summer was huge news for supporters, with the former sporting director a key reason behind Jurgen Klopp’s immense success with the Premier League giants due to the transfers made by the transfer guru.
And with Arne Slot at the helm and winning the Premier League in his first year in charge, Edwards’ role at Liverpool could not be any more important, with the CEO set to play a key role this summer in helping the Reds build a squad that can again challenge for the title.
Indeed, Edwards has shown he can build a generational team under Klopp, and Liverpool fans will want to see more of the same in the coming windows with Slot already off to an incredible start to life in England.
