Saudi Arabia’s influence in football is steadily growing, with Liverpool a club of much interest for the Middle Eastern state.
Mohamed Salah was a prime target for Saudi Arabia before the winger opted to sign a new deal with Liverpool, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho all making the move to the Saudi Pro League from Anfield in recent years.
Heading into this summer, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nuenz have both been linked with Saudi Arabian clubs, with the Liverpool duo likely to leave Merseyside this summer as the Reds look to overhaul their attacking options.
And now a third Liverpool player has emerged on Saudi Arabia’s radar heading into the summer transfer window.

According to the Telegraph, Saudi Arabia are ‘considering’ a move for Diogo Jota, with Diaz also a main target as the futures of the two Liverpool attackers remain up in the air despite productive seasons at Anfield.
Although Tim Howard lauded Jota after the forward’s performance against Everton, the Portuguese international has struggled for regular game time, with the former Wolves man suffering from numerous injury and fitness problems throughout the season.
With Danny Murphy suggesting that Jota could leave Liverpool this summer, there’s seemingly a growing chance that the attacker could depart Merseyside if an offer were to come in, especially from Saudi Arabia.

Indeed, whilst Jota’s form for Liverpool across the years has been exceptional, this off-season could be the ideal time to sell the 28-year-old forward, who could fetch a good transfer fee and allow the Reds to bring in a new attacking option to refresh the squad.
With Liverpool weighing up moves for Jonathan David and considering talks for Ademola Lookman, it’s clear that the Reds are set on signing a new attacker this summer, which could come at a cost of offloading Jota.
Whilst the forward’s goalscoring rate is impressive, Jota is not irreplaceable, with the versatile striker’s injury record also making the Portuguese international an unreliable option for Slot throughout an entire season.
As beloved as Jota has become at Liverpool amongst supporters, a sale might be best for all parties in the transfer window, especially if Saudi Arabia look to flex their financial muscle once again for an Anfield star.
