Liverpool fans can barely contain their excitement for the new season, with so much to look forward to at Anfield.

The last time the Reds began a campaign as Premier League champions, supporters were not allowed inside grounds.

Fans are set to make up for that lost time by reminding the rest of the world at every opportunity that they are the best team in the land.

As well as the chance to gloat in front of the rest of the Premier League, however, excitement stems from the fact that Liverpool have done some brilliant business in the transfer market.

Pre-season is set to get underway in just under a week’s time, with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili all ready to begin their Liverpool careers.

From there, the new season is just a short step away.

And as Arne Slot puts his plans in place for a Premier League title defence, the Liverpool head coach will have to be aware of three new changes to the TV coverage of the division.

As champions and one of the most supported clubs in the country, Liverpool are likely to be selected for television coverage more than any other team next season.

Indeed, the Reds will begin the campaign live on Sky Sports on Friday August 15th.

That date is likely to mark the first time Sky will implement some potential additions to their coverage.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

According to The Telegraph, broadcasters such as Sky and TNT Sports have asked clubs for ‘even more access’ during the 2025/26 season.

One of the changes will reportedly be the inclusion of in-game interviews with players who have been substituted.

Another is said to be the allowance of camera persons to enter the pitch with a ‘Steadicam’ in order to capture ‘close-up footage of goal celebrations.’ These moments will reportedly last ‘for a matter of seconds’ during celebrations.

Finally, broadcasters are claimed to have been given permission to film inside changing rooms, but will have restrictions in place, such as a blackout when a manager is delivering a team talk.

These three changes are reportedly ‘unlikely to be utilised at the same time’ in chosen matches, but are part of a drive for broadcasters to get more value from their financial package.

Whether fans are pleased about these new additions will very much depend on a personal point of view.

But in terms of the managers, coaches and players, it is hard to see how the developments will be met with positivity.

Substituted players are unlikely to react kindly to being approached mid-game, no matter the circumstances, and although cameras in changing rooms have become more commonplace, it will still be seen as a negative move by many players.

Goal celebrations have also become a bigger part of the sport over recent times, and while some may enjoy having their custom dances blown up even bigger on the television, many will not welcome the presence of a cameraman immediately after scoring a goal.

Like any changes made, these will take some time to get used to.
