Tottenham Hotspur could bring RB Leipzig’s former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi back to the Premier League by taking advantage of his £11 million release clause, as reported by BILD.

Every club in England has a story like this. A cautionary tale of a young player pushed out the door only to shine elsewhere and show his old employers what they’re missing.

And Gulacsi, eight years after being released by Liverpool, could be in line for a return to England having established himself away from Anfield as one of the finest shot-stoppers in European football.

BILD reports the Hungary international has an £11 million release clause in his contract.

Tottenham are interested – and no wonder. It’s no secret Spurs are in the market for a Hugo Lloris replacement and Gulacsi would cost far less than the likes of Nick Pope or Mike Maignan.

BILD adds Leipzig’s long-serving number one, who joined the club when they were still a second-tier team in 2015, is also on the radar of Roma and Borussia Dortmund.

But does Gulacsi feel he has unfinished business in England?

In six seasons on Merseyside, the Budapest-born glovesman played more games during loan spells at Hereford, Tranmere Rovers and Hull City than he did for Liverpool.

That’s despite the fact then-Reds boss Rafa Benitez was clearly a fan of a “fantastic” young goalkeeper who, at the time, was supposed to have a bright future at Anfield.
