Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are interested in Brighton centre-back Ben White, according to The Mirror.

Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on White, who will cost £50m.

The Gunners are keen as a result of their widespread issues at the back. David Luiz will leave at the end of this month, whilst Hector Bellerin could also depart.

He recently earned his first cap for England coming off the bench against Albania. Following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury last week, White was drafted.

White proves a versatile figure and can play at right-back, centre-back and in defensive midfield.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

He was key figure for Graham Potter’s side and featured 36 times in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s backline is packed with central defenders

Signing a new player wouldn’t be the smartest ploy from the outfit.

Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes and Pablo Mari will be joined by William Saliba following his loan spell last season.

The exit of David Luiz may will leave a gaping hole in terms of experience. However, the 23-year-old ace, who has one year of experience in the top-flight isn’t the man to fill it.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking for an out-and-out right-back as opposed to a further stop-gap.

But, things are different for Spurs.

The trio of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier were underwhelming last season.

Sanchez proved particularly worrisome especially on the final day of the campaign. His clumsy defending against Jamie Vardy almost saw the club slip up in the race for European football.

The club are linked with a few defenders this summer, including Leonardo Bonucci and Milan Skrinar.

Arsenal and Tottenham both have differing needs in the race for White. Spurs may well trump their north London rivals with the Gunners struggling to find a reason to sign the ace.
