Liverpool’s forward line looks ready for some major surgery during what is expected to be a busy summer at Anfield.
The Reds have romped to the Premier League title in 2024/25 and currently sit 15 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
However, you simply cannot stand still in top-level football and Liverpool are seemingly ready to do big business to ensure they remain at the top.
One of the few areas of improvement to target for the Reds is getting more goals out of forward players not named Mohamed Salah.
Salah has won the FWA Footballer of the Year after a brilliant campaign, but there have been too many times when the Egyptian has carried Liverpool’s goal threat all alone.
As a result, Arne Slot is set to target a new forward player to help out this summer.
And they may have now been handed a boost over a Premier League target.

Although Liverpool seem most likely to sign a new central striker in the coming months, we don’t know exactly the kind of profile they’ll go for.
Primarily what they need is someone to put the ball in the net.
And few have done that better than Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in the Premier League this season.

Mbeumo has 18 goals and according to Sky Sports, Brentford have now accepted that the Cameroonian has earned the chance to play at a bigger club.
Consequently, the Bees will reportedly listen to offers for Mbeumo – as well as 18-goal strike partner Yoanne Wissa – should they arrive this summer.

However, it’s claimed that with two years left on Mbeumo’s contract, Brentford are not under any pressure to sell him.
The west Londoners have reportedly put a valuation in excess of £60m on the 25-year-old.
With those parameters in place, Liverpool are said to be one of the teams ‘considering’ an approach for Mbeumo.
All of Newcastle, Man United and Tottenham are also credited with interest.
After six years with Brentford – two in the Championship – Mbeumo has exploded into an excellent Premier League player.

The £60m valuation may seem a little high to some, but his progress as one of the most lethal forwards in the top division justifies the fee.
For Liverpool, we’re not sure they’ll see value in adding Mbeumo for that kind of price, though.
The Reds do need a more central striker and although the former Troyes man could possibly play that role, he is far more suited to attacking from wide.
Had Salah left, we actually think Mbeumo could have been a genuine candidate to replace him.
But with the Egypt captain going nowhere, we think Liverpool will choose to sit this one out.
