That decision will then have a knock on effect to pretty much everything else.
Big stars like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, for example, will reportedly see who the new manager is before deciding if their futures remain at Anfield.
Beyond those two, there are also question marks over what lies in store for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
But with Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho doing well over at Hull City, Liverpool will have to decide what to do with them both.

There’s little doubt that Liverpool have been disappointed with their return in Carvalho so far.
The 21-year-old has great potential and looked like a top signing back in 2022.
But after struggling to get to grips with things at Anfield, the former Fulham youngster headed out on loan last summer.
A move to RB Leipzig felt like a good opportunity for Carvalho but he failed to take it and ended up back in the Championship with Hull in January.
Since then, things have thankfully turned around for the Portugal U21 international.
But it also bodes well for his Liverpool future.
With a new manager coming in though, The Daily Mail report that ‘no decision’ has yet been taken over where Carvalho will play next season.
It’s claimed that he’s ‘likely’ to be given chances in pre-season under the new boss, but even that isn’t a certainty.
We’ll have to wait and see what Klopp’s successor decides.
Just like Carvalho, Morton has been excelling at the KC Stadium this season.
For both, as for everyone at Liverpool, the appointment of a new manager is going to be crucial for deciding what comes next.
