Despite being on the other side of the world at the moment, Liverpool still have plenty of business to conduct this July.

The Reds are out in Hong Kong as they prepare to face AC Milan in a friendly on Saturday.

And while he will likely call on plenty of his new faces for the re-run of the 2005 Champions League final, Arne Slot also has a number of players within the Liverpool squad who may rather not be there.

With the season only three weeks away, Slot may have expected to move on a few more players by this stage of the summer.

But, although the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez do look likely to leave, they are currently still with Liverpool.

There have been suggestions that Diaz in particular is keen to depart, and as he waits for a potential move to Bayern Munich to go through, the Colombian’s attitude has been revealed.

After Federico Chiesa was left out of Liverpool’s travelling squad to the Far East amid rumours of an exit, some may have been surprised to see Diaz included.

Speculation has followed the 28-year-old right from the end of the season, and it is starting to feel inevitable that he will go, especially given rumours that Liverpool are set to go big on Alexander Isak.

But although there have been suggestions that Diaz is not altogether happy with his treatment at Liverpool, The Athletic claim that he has handled matters professionally while away.

There has reportedly been no sign of the Colombia international ‘downing tools’ and he is said to have looked committed as ever during the open training session on Thursday.

Diaz has reportedly been the same ‘bubbly personality’ as normal, with no signs of discontent.

He and Slot even managed a joke between themselves during Thursday’s session.

After Diaz went down after a physical battle with Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool head coach teasingly accused him of diving.

A laugh and fist bump is said to have followed from Diaz.

While it is nice to hear that Diaz has been utterly professional during the uncertainty over his future, it is still looking more and more likely that he will go.

The real test will be whether the former Porto man is included in the squad – or gets on the pitch – during Saturday’s game against AC Milan.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Thursday afternoon, a second bid is imminent from Bayern, and Diaz’s inclusion, or non-inclusion, at the weekend could give us an insight into how close a deal is or is not.

“Bayern new proposal for Luis Diaz, set to be sent soon as planned since last weekend,” says Romano.

“Liverpool aware of player’s desire to leave the club and talks will continue to discuss details of the financial package with Bayern.”
