Liverpool will be hoping all their new players can show the world why they were brought to the club.

The Reds have had a manic summer so far and they appear to have finally found the striker they want to lead the line after agreeing a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

The Frenchman is on the verge of becoming a new Liverpool player in a deal worth £82.3m, taking their summer spending to well over the £200m mark.

The Reds are also just about to jet off to Asia to begin their pre-season tour, with the team flying on Sunday night to Hong Kong to begin their 10-day trip.

With Liverpool agreeing a deal for Ekitike on the same day, many fans have been wondering whether the 23-year-old will be joining up with the squad to go, and a decision has been made.

Granted, it would be a very quick turnaround but with the Reds aiming to complete their transfer business for this exact reason, it would have been no surprise to see Ekitike on the plane with the rest of his new teammates.

However, according to The Sunday Times, the Frenchman will not be joining the team for their Sunday evening flight to Hong Kong, although he could arrive at a later date.

The Reds play AC Milan on Sunday 26th July, before travelling to Japan to take on Yokohama F Marinos on 30th July, giving Ekitike very likely at least two chances to make his debut.

All the other new signings, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who technically joined last year, will be flying at the same time as everyone else.

Ekitike was an unused substitute during Frankfurt’s friendly on Saturday, indicating that they knew he would be leaving soon, meaning that the striker should be fit and ready to go when called upon.

The Reds will be hoping that he can come in and make an instant impact after the disappointment they faced after signing Darwin Nunez, especially as they are paying £78m up-front with £4.3m in add-ons, with the Frenchman agreeing a six-year deal.

The Reds have spent so heavily in the last few months that sales are almost a guarantee, with the Sunday Times also reporting that this is what they will look to do after they unveil Ekitike.

According to their report, Liverpool are still expected to sell Nunez, with AC Milan and the Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal still keen on his signature.

Luis Diaz is also very likely to leave and the Reds are bracing themselves for a second bid from Bayern Munich, while Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott could also depart.

It is certainly a summer of change at Anfield but all the rumours appear promising, suggesting fans have a very exciting season to look forward to.
