Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes look to have ended after a dismal defeat to Everton on Wednesday.

In truth, there was already little hope of the Reds overhauling both Arsenal and Man City to win a second league title under Jurgen Klopp.

But as the Gwladys Street gleefully sang throughout the second-half of their 2-0 win, Liverpool truly lost the league at Goodison Park.

Of course, that isn’t strictly true. The damage had really been done by Crystal Palace at Anfield 10 days earlier. There’s no getting away from the fact that it was at Goodison where Liverpool’s dream finally went to die, though.

The result means that Klopp’s final season with the Reds will end with a solitary Carabao Cup win. Ordinarily, that would not be means to hold a parade. But with Jurgen on his way out, there had been suggestions that one could be held anyway. Now, those claims have been cleared up.

Will Liverpool hold Jurgen Klopp parade

Had Liverpool have defied the odds and won the Premier League title, there would of course have been an open-top journey through the streets of the city.

Had the Reds managed to make good on their tag as favourites for the Europa League, you’d imagine there would have been, too.

That would have provided supporters from across the city and beyond to come together and thank a manager who has transformed the club since his arrival in 2015.

But, it was not to be. As a result, The Times have now shared how likely it is that a parade will be held in Jurgen’s honour anyway.

They claim that discussions have indeed been ‘ongoing’ with Liverpool City Council over a potential end-of-season celebration.

However, unless the Reds do somehow end up winning the league from here, there will reportedly be no parade. Pity.

Should Liverpool hold a parade for Klopp

The answer to this question probably depends on who you ask. Some will feel it would be a nice touch to send one final salute to a manager who has given us everything. Others may see it as unnecessary and even a little cringey.

If you ask the outside world, they’ll of course laugh at any suggestion of a parade without a big trophy to show for it.

With all of that in mind though, we’d actually have liked to have seen this happen. There’s a question of whether Jurgen himself would have been up for it, but the German really has touched the lives of those in the city.

More than a footballing event, it could purely be a human one; a chance for the streets themselves to thank a man who came as an outsider and left with the keys to the whole flipping place.

Anyway, it sounds like the decision has been made and that is that. We’ll just have to make that Anfield goodbye extra special. And it will be.
