FC Barcelona have made Luis Diaz their top attacking target this summer, with Liverpool seemingly open to hearing an offer.

The Catalan giants have enjoyed a fantastic first season under Hansi Flick as the German manager led Barcelona to the Copa del Rey and a league title, with the La Liga side also coming close to a UEFA Champions League final appearance before a late loss against Inter Milan.

Now heading into the summer, Barcelona are eyeing Diaz as their priority for the transfer window, with Liverpool struggling to tie the Colombian international down to a new contract as Flick’s side look to pounce on this opportunity in the market.

As well as Diaz, Barcelona are also keeping tabs on Athletic Club star Nico Williams, yet the Liverpool winger seemingly has the edge when it comes to which player the Catalan side actually wants to sign this summer.

According to Sport, Diaz’s experience as a player and ability to be an instant-impact player for Barcelona makes the Liverpool winger more appealing than Nico Williams, even with the Athletic star available at a much cheaper price.

As per the report, key members of the Barcelona board are sold on signing Diaz this summer, with Liverpool’s openness to allow the winger to leave for the right price something that could also help the La Liga giants land the former FC Porto man.

Indeed, Diaz has enjoyed his best season yet at Liverpool this season under Arne Slot, with the winger playing a key role in leading the Reds to the Premier League title alongside Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

And with Barcelona prioritising Diaz over Williams, there’s a real chance that Flick’s side could make a realistic offer to land the Liverpool winger, who seems keen on joining the Catalan giants in the summer transfer window.

The prospect of Liverpool losing a key player to Barcelona seemed fanciful only a few months ago, yet the landscape of football has changed quickly, and Diaz could now really be on his way to the Camp Nou over the summer.

Barcelona seemingly have money to spend this transfer window, and Diaz emerging as a top target for the La Liga champions could result in Liverpool losing an important attacker to a potential Champions League rival for next season.

Although Diaz is replaceable, the forward leaving will be viewed by many as a shock, and Liverpool need to have a plan in place in case the Colombian does indeed depart Anfield to complete a move to Barcelona.
