Curtis Jones has been missing for Liverpool through injury since the international break.
The Reds have been fairly fortunate so far this season with injuries, with it only really being Alexis Mac Allister who has been regularly struggling with niggles.
However, despite being called up to the England squad at the start of the month due to an injury in the team, Curtis Jones never managed to feature due to a slight knock that he picked up himself.
This has meant he was unavailable for the Burnley and Atletico Madrid game, with Reds fans keen to have him back in time for the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
Arne Slot kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the scouser in his pre-Atletico press conference, but now an update on his injury has been given.

It would not be a proper Merseyside derby if there were not a scouser on the pitch, and now that Trent Alexander-Arnold has gone, the only hope is now Jones.
When they met at Goodison Park for the last derby at the ground last season, the midfielder actually got himself sent off after a scuffle with Abdoulaye Doucoure, although in all fairness he was just sticking up for the Liverpool supporters.
But he faces a race against time to be fit for this one, although journalist Lewis Steele has reported that Jones is expected to return to the squad in time for this clash.

As per the Daily Mail, Steele stated that Jones took part in a recovery session at the AXA training centre on Thursday, and he will do a light training session on the Friday.

Slot confirmed that he would be doing this in his press conference too, with this suggesting that he is on track to achieving full fitness.
Competition for places in Liverpool’s midfield is certainly strong, but all of them will back themselves to be Slot’s first-choice.
Jones, arguably, has the biggest mountain to climb as the likes of Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai appear to be the most trusted, but that is not to say that the Englishman is not.
He got a good amount of minutes last season and can offer something a little different to the rest of them, showing how he might prove very helpful.
No one will want to win this as much as Jones too, suggesting that if he does come off the bench, Slot knows he will give his absolute all.
