Liverpool have received a potential boost in a reported midfield target should they want to go that direction.

The Reds have consistently found themselves on the losing end when competing with Real Madrid for top talent, creating a frustrating pattern of missed opportunities.

The most notable recent example was Jude Bellingham, where Liverpool ended their long-standing pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder in April 2023.

Despite years of monitoring the player, Liverpool walked away from the deal, believing that paying upwards of £100 million for one player “was not the right strategy”.

Bellingham subsequently became one of Real Madrid’s marquee signings.

Similarly, Aurelien Tchouameni chose Real Madrid over Liverpool in 2022, despite Jurgen Klopp flying out to meet the player when he was still at Monaco.

More recently, Dean Huijsen opted for Real Madrid despite Liverpool’s interest, with the Spanish defender choosing the Bernabeu over Premier League options.

Liverpool were among several clubs pursuing the Bournemouth center-back, but Madrid’s pull proved decisive.

But it seems some good news has finally arrived for Liverpool regarding a potential transfer target.

Diario AS journalist Joaquin Maroto categorically denied Madrid interest in reported Liverpool target Angelo Stiller, taking to X to write:

“So you don’t get confused: Stiller will never sign for Real Madrid.”

Liverpool have been linked to the defensive midfielder from both local Stuttgart outlets as well as the more national Sky Germany.

When the Reds failed in their pursuit of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi last summer, they considered Stiller as an alternative.

The 24-year-old has had an impressive campaign, chipping in with 4 goals and 9 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Despite mutual interest between Real Madrid and Stiller, a complex contractual situation complicates any potential move.

While Stiller’s contract with Stuttgart includes a €36 million release clause, it is not immediately available—this clause only becomes active in 2026.

Until that time, Stuttgart hold full control over his future

Additionally, Stuttgart have the option to remove this release clause entirely by paying Stiller a €2 million bonus before 2026.

Currently, Stuttgart are unwilling to sell Stiller for less than €50 million -a price Real Madrid are reluctant to pay for a player who would not be guaranteed a starting spot.

This financial and contractual impasse means any deal is unlikely in the near future.

If Liverpool want to take a stab at signing the German international, it would seem there is a clear avenue to do without Real Madrid interference.
