Leicester City are anticipating Bilal El Khannouss’ exit before the end of the transfer window despite talks with Crystal Palace breaking down, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about the 21-year-old’s chances of leaving Leicester.
El Khannouss had been on the verge of a move to Selhurst Park with the Foxes under pressure to sell the Morocco international, but Leicester’s talks with Crystal Palace collapsed after they lifted his price tag.
Leicester raising El Khannouss’ valuation to £35million was enough for Crystal Palace to back out of talks to sign him, but Football Insider sources have said that big-money offers could still be forthcoming.
Sources have told Football Insider that Leicester will still struggle to retain El Khannouss before the end of the transfer window, and that’s been reflected by Stuttgart submitting a £26m bid for him on Sunday.

Football Insider revealed on 29 August that Leeds United are ready to “accelerate” their interest in El Khannouss after his failed move to Palace, which broke down in part due to Leeds signing James Justin.
Speaking on the new Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke stated that El Khannouss still wants to play at the highest level after Leicester’s relegation, and will have no shortage of suitors before the window closes.

“There’ll be other clubs looking at El Khannouss between now and the end of the window”, he told Football Insider.
“He looked like was heading for Selhurst Park, El Khannouss – talks were advanced between both clubs, but the deal since has fallen through.
“Leicester are expecting further interest in the player and they’ll find it hard to keep hold of him between now and the end of the window.
“The player himself wants to play at the highest level, rather than in the Championship.”

El Khannouss was absent from Leicester’s 2-0 win over Birmingham City on Friday amid the continued speculation over his future, and he’s increasingly likely to sport new colours after the international break.
Stuttgart will be able to improve on their £26million bid for El Khannouss after selling Nick Woltemade to Newcastle for £69m, but Leeds could tempt the Moroccan with the offer of a Premier League return.
Emi Buendia could be on his way to Elland Road in a bid to solve Leeds‘ creativity crisis, but if Daniel Farke’s side want to make a statement and fill their hole at number 10, they could do much worse than El Khannouss.
