RB Leipzig are finalising talks with Liverpool over a deal to sign Harvey Elliott as they aim to conclude his transfer in the coming days.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 22-year-old’s future with a number of clubs still in the race for his signature.
Liverpool are aiming to make £40million from his sale in an attempt to balance the books after a big-spending summer window at Anfield.
Football Insider revealed on 8 August that Tottenham have joined the rave to sign Elliott and could be prepared to hijack Leipzig’s move for the midfielder.
However, there is still a “really strong possibility” that he makes the move to the Bundesliga rather than opting to stay in the Premier League this summer.
This comes after former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 13 July that Elliott could make an “incredible” move to Germany.

With the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho having thrived in Germany, Elliott is thought to be keen to make the move away from English football.
O’Rourke explained that negotiations with Liverpool are still underway, while there have also been talks with the England Under-21 star’s representatives.
“RB Leipzig are still there exploring this move for Harvey Elliott,” he told Football Insider.
“There has been some talks held between the two clubs and the Elliott’s representatives.
“I still think there’s a real strong possibility that he could end up making that move to Germany.

“If they can bring in 40 million pounds plus for Harvey Elliott, they can use that to help balance the books and to use that for those other potential transfers before the deadline.
“And I think for Elliott himself, he was an unused sub against Bournemouth last Friday on the opening Premier League game this season.
“He might decide now that he needs to move on in search of regular first team football.”
Despite a partial focus on outgoing players, the Reds remain determined to strengthen their squad with new additions, including their pursuit of Marc Guehi.
Football Insider revealed on 22 August that Liverpool are hopeful of signing Guehi later in the window if Palace decide to accept cut-price offers.

Palace’s asking price, originally believed to be around £40million, has now dropped by £5million, but Liverpool still see the price tag as higher than they’re willing to pay.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 15 August that Liverpool have re-opened talks with Palace, but his valuation has left talks at a deadlock.
