Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will not hesitate to “pull the trigger” and sack Nuno Espirito Santo if he decides a change would be best for the club.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 51-year-old’s position following his reveal that relationships have deteriorated.
Forest are preparing to face West Ham at the City Ground on 31 August, but any result is unlikely to have an impact on the controversial owner’s decision.
Football Insider revealed on 29 August that Nuno and Marinakis are set for crunch talks about the boss’ future as they aim to thrash out any issues between them.
All parties are believed to be keen to reach a resolution over the manager’s future, but there are doubts about whether the controversial owner can be won over.

Reports have claimed the relationship between the pair is “potentially irreparable” [The Athletic], adding to the ever-growing tension and pressure on Nuno.
O’Rourke explained that while there is a feeling sacking the manager would be “hasty” given the job he has done, Marinakis will make the final decision.
“It seems like there’s been a breakdown in relations,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s not a great position to be in, with tensions rising with Evangelos Marinakis.
“Marinakis is nobody’s fool.

“He’s not afraid to pull the trigger on sacking Nuno.
“So I can imagine, if there is no sort of compromise reached in these talks between himself and Nuno, then he will decide to look for a new manager.
“Obviously, everybody knows Nuno has done a very good job at Nottingham Forest.
“It would be a bit hasty to get rid of him right now, but Marinakis will make the decision.”
Despite speculation about the manager’s future, Forest are aiming to further strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline on 1 September.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 29 August that Forest have opened talks to sign John Victor from Botafogo as they aim to reach an agreement quickly.
