Brendan Rodgers is high on the shortlist of names Nottingham Forest would consider if Nuno Espirito Santo leaves the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Whispers are intensifying that Espirito Santo could be sacked by Forest, after news of a behind-the-scenes bust-up with owner Evangelos Marinakis went public.
Global head of football at the City Ground, Edu Gaspar, has also reportedly had a run-in with the Portuguese manager, who is unhappy with the club’s transfer activity.
Football Insider first revealed in April that Rodgers could quit Celtic amid Premier League interest, and sources say that the 52-year-old is firmly in contention for the Forest job if it became available.

Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership after three games of the domestic season, with a 100% record, as they look to win their fifth title in a row.
The Hoops are desperate to keep hold of Rodgers, and will hope to tie him down to a new deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Despite the former Liverpool boss pledging that he will stay with the Glasgow giants until at least next summer, rumours will continue to swirl until he puts pen to paper on a contract extension.
If the Nottingham Forest job suddenly became available, then it is not out of the realm of possibility that Rodgers would be the man appointed on Trentside.

Meanwhile, Man City will accept a “crazy” offer for Rico Lewis as the prospect of a shock late sale grows, amid Forest interest.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Pep Guardiola still views the 20-year-old as a valuable member of his squad.
Brown told Football Insider in July that Man City are aiming to accelerate player sales after Guardiola made clear his demands to trim the size of his squad.
However, Lewis is not considered to be among those sellable assets as he remains a favourite of the boss, having “never let him down” when called upon.
