Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has provided a loving response to a worrying injury update from teammate Kai Havertz.

Amid the Gunners’ Premier League title bid, Germany international Havertz underwent knee surgery after suffering an injury.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s men face a vital clash with defending top-flight champions Liverpool on Sunday, 31 August.

While Havertz remains sidelined, Arsenal summer signing Viktor Gyokeres is set to lead the line for Arteta’s side against Liverpool.

The former Sporting men struggled on his Premier League debut against Manchester United, but went on to score a brace against Leeds.

Meanwhile, Havertz took to Instagram on Friday, 29 August to share an injury update: “Small set back, thanks to the medical team for all the care and attention.

Back soon.”

Arsenal signed Gyokeres from Sporting this summer because Havertz had not been a clinical enough striker for the Gunners, who boast aspirations of winning silverware.

However, the fact that the Germany international has revealed that he will return to fitness soon is a positive update for Arteta.

The Emirates Stadium club need as much strength in depth as possible as they strive to beat likely title rivals Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City to top-flight glory, alongside their aspirations to achieve success in the Champions League.

Arsenal are facing some tough fixtures in Europe this season, as they are set to host Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, while they also travel to Milan to face Inter.

While Gyokeres will likely remain Arteta’s first-choice striker, Havertz’s experience can help guide the North London outfit through those testing fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Germany international’s potential impact from the bench could be missed against Liverpool on 31 August.
