Richarlison and Joelinton react to Lucas Paqueta's final message - 'it's completed'

Fri 5 September 2025 9:50, UK

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta was in high spirits on social media following his latest performance after finding the net again, and this time for Brazil.

The midfielder has endured a tough last 12 months serious allegations from the FA, but in July, Paqueta was cleared of the spot-fixing charges after an independent regulatory commission found them to be “not proven”.

Since then, he has started this season on fire, scoring three in four games for West Ham.

Paqueta was also named in the latest WhoScored team of the week side after his latest performance against Nottingham Forest.

That growing confidence has been evident in his recent displays and now, he has carried on that goalscoring form for his national team.

While club football is now on pause, Paqueta has now netted for Brazil in their 3-0 win over Chile in the World Cup qualifiers.

The 28-year-old posted on Instagram following the side’s win and his goal, with a caption that read: “The work is complete, Glory and Honor to God!”

He saw numerous players share a reaction to the post as Newcastle’s Joelinton wrote “Congratulations brother” with other players such as Richarlison, Jarrod Bowen and Savinho all shared a like on the post.

Paqueta netted the second goal of the game after Luis Henrique crossed in a pinpoint ball to the back post, which allowed the West Ham star to head into an empty net.

Other Premier League players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Estevao also netted on the night, with Brazil staying second in the World Cup qualifying table, behind Argentina.

The midfielder’s passion for the Hammers is indisputable, and it was underlined after Paqueta told West Ham fans he wants to stay in his celebration against Nottingham Forest.

However, Football Insider revealed West Ham were open to Paqueta’s exit this summer, with Tottenham and Man City all showing interest in his signature, while Aston Villa were close to completing a deal.

The Hammers were understood to be looking for around £45 million amid financial pressures, but Paqueta himself appeared unwilling to move.

Now, with his current form for both club and country, the Brazilian is showing why he may be too valuable for West Ham’s hierarchy to consider letting go in the future.
