Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed his annoyance at Mohamed Salah continues to get disrespected despite what he has achieved at Liverpool so far.

Granted, the Egyptian has not been at his devastating best since the turn of the year, but he has still had an individual season most players would be jealous of.

He has racked up 18 goals and 10 assists in 30 Premier League appearances, extremely good numbers.

It feels like if any other play were to reach these numbers, it would be big news.

But for Salah, it seems that he is a victim of his own success and standards.

In truth, the 31-year-old has not been the same since recovering from a hamstring injury sustained at AFCON.

Indeed, since making his return from injury at the beginning of March, Salah has managed three Premier League goals in eight appearances.

Once again, for any other play it would be deemed as solid going.

But for Salah, it is twisted into the Egyptian being in poor form – and now Rio Ferdinand has addressed this strange phenomenon.

What did Rio Ferdinand say about Mohamed Salah?

Speaking on his YouTube channel Vibe with Five (via Empire of the Kop), Rio Ferdinand expressed his disbelief at the disrespect Mohamed Salah seems to get – and went on a passionate rant about it:

“Can I just say something about Mo Salah – I think he’s been disrespected recently.

I don’t think there’s been a debate that Mo Salah has been world class for a number of years.”

“Maybe this season he’s tailed off but in his pomp years at Liverpool, absolutely world class.”

“Real Madrid only win that Champions League final [in 2018] because he came off injured.”

“Up until that moment he came off injured Liverpool were on the front foot, as soon as he came off everything changed.”

“His numbers are off the charts, I don’t understand it, it’s unbelievable.”

“Mo Salah I think has been so disrespected.”

Graeme Souness, who thinks that the Egyptian is leaving in the summer, believes that Salah is the ‘most selfish’ player he has ever seen.

Ferdinand can’t understand where the Scotsman is coming from though:

“I saw Graeme Souness, Troy Deeney and Simon Jordan, I couldn’t believe the disrespect I was seeing about him, I couldn’t believe it.”

“I don’t know how you can debate if Mo Salah has been world class at any point in his career at Liverpool.”

“It’s off the scale to even question him?
