Liverpool supporters are hugely concerned ahead of facing Newcastle United after a fresh blow to Jeremie Frimpong’s availability.
The 24-year-old hobbled off during the dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener, strangely replaced by Wataru Endo just an hour into the game at Anfield.
Now, according to the Daily Mail (21 August), the Reds face a race against time for the full-back to be fit for their trip to St James’ Park when facing Newcastle on Monday, 25 August.
Now, Arne Slot has revealed that the defender will be unavailable until the international window.
It is likely to be a game fueled by emotion, with Alexander Isak attempting to force a move to Anfield this summer, but Slot’s side have been handed a disadvantage before their travels up north.
Supporters are already worrying exactly how the Reds could line up against the Magpies, and with Conor Bradley still sidelined, there seems like only one obvious option for Slot.

Joe Gomez, who played the final 25 minutes against the Cherries, started just six Premier League appearances last season, but could now be thrown straight into the starting XI.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Endo have both been tested at full-back, but if Liverpool want to claim victory at St James’ Park, they need those players in their preferred positions, or even on the bench.
Therefore, with suggestions that Gomez could be starting up against Harvey Barnes or Anthony Gordon on Monday night, supporters, understandably, are concerned.

The reaction to Frimpong’s injury has been tough, but with suggestions that Gomez could now start instead, fans are worried about the weakness down the Reds’ right flank.
One supporter said that he is the “complete opposite of being defensively solid”, while another has predicted Barnes and Gordon to “rip him apart” at St James’ Park.
The defender has certainly been out of action for a while, struggling with his own injury concerns, but with Frimpong unlikely to be available, there might be no other option for the Reds.
