Liverpool’s next managerial appointment now feels as if it is all but officially announced.

Following months of speculation since Jurgen Klopp announced his departure from the club, it now seems that Arne Slot will be the man to take over.

The 45-year-old is yet to venture outside of his native country for both his playing and managerial career.

His most recent role as manager of Feyenoord, however, is of the most intrigue to fans.

He managed to lead the club to an Eredivisie title and even the final of the inaugural Europa Conference League despite only being at the club since 2021.

Although his name might not ring a bell for most, he has been one of the most talked about manager in Dutch football over recent years and has even been touted to be better than Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag.

This appointment may seem underwhelming to fans, however, with the manager market as it is, Slot is likely the perfect profile of manager that FSG require.

The 45-year-old will reportedly be appointed as Liverpool Head Coach rather than manager.

This is due to the roles that both Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will have in the running of the club.

Since Slot was announced as the favourite for the role and journalists started to report agreements were being reached, many have shared their thoughts on the move.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is one of those and has shared his “honest” opinion.

In his column for the Daily Mirror, Fowler shared his thoughts about Liverpool’s choice.

“I’ll be honest, I hadn’t a clue Slot was even in the conversation among the power brokers who run Liverpool,” Fowler claimed.

“He wasn’t someone who jumped out at me as a candidate?

In fact, I knew nothing about Slot at all or the way he plays and, probably like many people, I dived into Google to check him out.

“He’s done OK at Feyenoord the last couple of seasons, but only time will tell if he can take Liverpool to greater heights than Klopp managed.

“That will be a tall order, but the more pressing problem for Liverpool is getting some stability back into players feeling the effects of Jurgen’s imminent departure.

“They’ve had nearly nine years of Klopp at Liverpool and suddenly everything is about to change.”

Although this doesn’t seem like a resounding review for the appointment, Slot is a relatively unknown manager and this can only bode well for Liverpool.

As, if things don’t work out, at least they tried to change the vision that the club was heading in after Klopp’s tenure.

However, if it works out, their move for the Feyenoord man will be classed as a stroke of genius and could change the way that Europe’s top five leagues look at football from the smaller countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria.
