Roberto Firmino is edging closer to a return to the first team after a spell on the sidelines.

For the Brazilian, it’s almost been a whole month out of action, as he picked up a hamstring injury.

His contract is winding down with less than two years running on it, and with Liverpool having already signed several lucrative contract extensions lately, Firmino is fighting for his future at the club.

The next few months could be instrumental in mapping out his future as a player, and so his return to full fitness is timely.

Talking ahead of the game against Brentford, Jürgen Klopp was asked about the latest situation with Firmino.

Mané has blown hit and cold since the start of the season, but at least the Senegalese forward has been on the pitch, which can't be said for Firmino.

It’s thought that either Firmino or Sadio Mané could be sold in order to find the money necessary to keep Salah at the club well into his 30s.
