There has been a new update on Liverpool and their reported interst in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
The Brazilian has emerged as a serious transfer option for Liverpool after the club’s sale of Luis Díaz’s to Bayern Munich.
Diaz completed a £70 million move to the Bundesliga side on Wednesday, brinig an end to his three-and-a-half year stay at Anfield.
Liverpool are already eyeing a replacement for the Colombian winger, with the funds from Díaz’s potential departure able to significantly strengthen the club’s financial position in the market.
The Reds have identified Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as a top target and are said to have already made contact with his representatives.
Reports suggest the Reds are ready to mount a strong bid, viewing the Brazilian as an ideal fit for Arne Slot’s system.
What adds intrigue to the situation is that some in Spain believe Liverpool’s pursuit of Rodrygo isn’t just about filling a vacancy—it’s also about landing a psychological blow to Real Madrid.
With the Spanish giants known for poaching top talent themselves, Liverpool could see this as an opportunity to reverse the dynamic.
Rodrygo’s future at the Bernabéu remains uncertain, especially after Madrid’s recent attacking signings.
If Díaz leaves, and the right deal can be struck, Rodrygo could become the marquee addition of Liverpool’s summer rebuild.
Amid the uncertianty around his fiure, Spanish reporter Siro Lopez has asserted that the Brazilian is closer to joining Liverpool than remaining at Real Madrid.
“At this moment we can say that Rodrygo is closer to Liverpool than to Real Madrid,” Lopez said.
“There has already been an approach with the player and he would be delighted by the project?
Liverpool have contacted his agents as well as Real Madrid, as they are very interested — If an offer of £69M is tabled, it is possible that he won’t even be in pre-season with Real Madrid.”
