The future of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been one of the major talking points of the summer.
Liverpool have already invested over £290 million this summer on five major signings, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Giorgi Mamardashvili, as they strengthen their title-winning squad.
Arne Slot’s favored 4-2-3-1 system demands dynamic width and fluid forward movement, making Rodrygo’s versatility highly attractive.
His ability to drift inside and link up with creative talents like Florian Wirtz or stretch defenses wide to create space for players such as Cody Gakpo would be a significant asset to Liverpool’s attacking options.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Brazilian after he only made one start at the Club World Cup over the summer.
Spanish journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon previously that Liverpool would be the 24-year-old’s “first choice” this summer if a move were to materialize.
However, it seems no Premier League will be getting their hands on the winger.
Spanish outlet AS has reported that Rodrygo returned to training at Valdebebas this week and has firmly decided to remain at Real Madrid for the 2025-26 campaign:
” As AS was able to learn, the weeks that have passed since the end of the Club World Cup that was so tortuous for the Brazilian have been clarifying his future situation and Rodrygo is committed to reversing his current situation,” Tomás Roncero wrote.
“For winning over Xabi and recovering his strength of yesteryear in the team.”
“After a troublesome Club World Cup stint, the forward has made clear his intention to win back manager Xabi Alonso’s trust and rekindle the form that helped him score crucial goals en route to multiple Champions League and La Liga titles.”
The report insist that Real Madrid have never hinted at selling Rodrygo and would only entertain a transfer if a firm offer of at least €90 million arrived—no discounts, no haggling.
At 24, with three years left on his contract and a decorated résumé that includes two European crowns and three domestic titles, the club see him as indispensable.
