Rodrygo will reportedly cost way less than the €100m price tag he is valued at.
The Brazilian attacker’s future has taken centre stage in recent weeks amid a disappointing personal season.
Rodrygo is undoubtedly a talented player, but at Madrid he finds himself in the shadows of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Belingham.
This has fueled reports that he is unsatisfied and will seek a move elsewhere this summer.
According to a recent report by Marca, Rodrygo wants to leave Madrid and “doesn’t want to play for the club again.”
With Arne Slot looking to build on his remarkable Premier League-winning debut season, strengthening the attack appears to be a priority for the summer transfer window.
What makes Rodrygo particularly appealing to Liverpool’s recruitment team is his remarkable versatility across the forward positions.
Described by Brazil’s assistant coach Matheus Bachi as “a chameleon,” Rodrygo has demonstrated his ability to excel in multiple roles.
And now, according to the latest report from Spain, the Reds may pay less than initially thought should they move to sign Rodrygo this summer.
Spanish journalist Antón Meana (via Cadena SER’s El Larguero) claims that Madrid intend to make a major sale that would help offset the cost of incoming transfers.
The Spanish giants want to bolster their squad ahead of the Club World Cup, and several high-profile additions, including Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alvaro Carreras, are in the works.
However, financial fair play constraints mean that at least one major outgoing is now considered inevitable.
Per the report, Brazil international Rodrygo could be the first name out of the doors of the Bernabeu this summer.
“With so many signings, there has to be a significant sale.
It’s pure mathematics and something that has historically been done at Real Madrid.
And this first departure could be that of Rodrygo Goes,” the report said.
Rodrygo is reportedly valued at €100m, but the report claims that should he move this summer, he will leave for about £67m.
“Rodrygo wants to stay, he’s happy at Madrid, but if they put a tie on him and want to sell him, he’ll have no shortage of suitors,” the report said.
“It’s a deal that would cost around 80 million (Euros) according to the clubs consulted, but market experts value Rodrygo at 100 million (Euros).”
Cadena SER also revealed that two Premier League clubs have been contacted by Rodrygo’s agents on Wednesday.
They note explicitly that it was Rodrygo’s agents who were offering him to them, and not the other way round.
Liverpool will naturally face stiff competition if they pursue Rodrygo this summer?
Arsenal and Manchester City have also reportedly been in contact with Rodrygo’s representatives in recent weeks.
All three Premier League giants appear to recognise the rare opportunity to secure a world-class talent entering his prime years.
However, despite interest from Premier League sides, the report adds that Rodrygo has not made a decision on whether he wants to leave Real Madrid or not.
The 23-year-old wants to speak with Real Madrid’s new coach before deciding on his future.
