Liverpool have made a decisive move in their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
His representatives are reportedly entering into direct talks with the club.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a priority target to replace Luis Diaz, who is nearing a potential €75m switch to Bayern Munich.
Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo has gained serious traction in recent weeks, particularly as Diaz continues to push for an exit and Real Madrid signal their openness to letting Rodrygo leave.
Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool have been monitoring Rodrygo’s situation closely and have now formally inquired about the conditions of a deal.
The Madrid forward is said to be aware of the interest and is exploring options as his role under new manager Xabi Alonso continues to diminish.
Despite being a consistent presence over five seasons with Madrid, registering 270 appearances and winning multiple titles, Rodrygo was left out of the starting lineup during the club’s entire Club World Cup campaign this summer.
That omission has further fueled talk of a potential exit.

According to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna, the talks between Liverpool and Rodrygo’s representatives are active with both sides continuing to discuss a possible move.
While no formal talks have taken place between the clubs, the report by Foot Mercato says Liverpool have “taken a new step” in this transfer.
Rodrygo’s price tag is likely to exceed €100m (£86m) and he already earns up to €10m per year.
A Rodrygo deal would be the crown jewel of that rebuild, but only if the numbers align and Diaz officially moves on.
