Rodrygo's previous comments about Mohamed Salah could create awkward tensions in the Liverpool dressing room if the Reds manage to secure a deal for the Real Madrid winger.

The Brazilian has reportedly caught the attention of the Premier League leaders and Arsenal following a campaign where his playing time diminished after Kylian Mbappe's arrival.

With the Spanish club reportedly setting an £86million valuation on the forward, rumours about his future continue to swirl.

He's been suggested as a possible successor to Luis Diaz at Anfield, with the Colombian reportedly seeking fresh opportunities as Bayern Munich show strong interest in the 28-year-old.

Whilst the Brazilian would undoubtedly represent a quality signing for Arne Slot - who secured Hugo Ekitike on Wednesday - some diplomatic work might be required should a transfer materialise, given his previous comments targeting Salah.

Back in 2018, the Egyptian icon was left heartbroken after being substituted just 30 minutes into the Champions League final against Madrid following a shoulder problem caused by Sergio Ramos's challenge.

Madrid subsequently claimed victory 3-1, and when the two sides faced each other again in the European showpiece four years later, Salah posted on social media after the Spanish outfit eliminated Manchester City in the semi-finals, declaring on X: "We have a score to settle."

Salah reinforced his desire for retribution after receiving the FWA Footballer of the Year award, declaring: "Yeah, I think it's revenge time." However, despite his determination, Liverpool fell short yet again, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat with Vinicius Jr netting the decisive strike.

Rodrygo - who entered the match in the 93rd minute - wasn't impressed by Salah's revenge rhetoric ahead of their encounter.

The Brazilian had the final word after revealing how his team-mates were eager to mock the Liverpool forward during a podcast appearance.

Speaking on Podpah's YouTube channel, he revealed: "When a guy provokes, sometimes you just want to win so you can make fun of them.

In training we used to say 'come Salah, come Salah'...

in our head it was already 'we have to win to then make fun of Salah'."

Considering the tight-knit relationships within the Liverpool dressing room, questions remain over whether Rodrygo's remarks could spark friction should a summer switch to Anfield come to fruition.

Whilst the Brazilian's role at Madrid became somewhat diminished last season under Carlo Ancelotti, Jude Bellingham ensured he recognised the winger's contributions by heaping praise on him earlier this year.

In a conversation with CBS Sports earlier this year, the England midfielder praised his colleague saying: "Rodrygo is so underrated.
