Roma and their search for a new manager has caught the attention of Liverpool fans, but for the wrong reasons.

Reports from Italian newspaper La Stampa on Monday claimed Klopp had verbally agreed to replace the retiring Ranieri.

The speculation unfolded against the backdrop of Claudio Ranieri’s emotional final home match at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 73-year-old, who came out of retirement in November 2024 to rescue Roma from 12th place, guided them to fifth in Serie A and a Champions League qualification battle.

Ranieri will retire as a manager at the end of the season with the Serie A side needing a manager to continue the good work at Stadio Olimpico,

However, Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, categorically denied the rumors, telling WinWin Sports: “Reports on Klopp becoming new AS Roma manager are not true”.

With the Klopp links stamped out, Spanish outlet Relevo have identified Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espírito Santo as a prime target.

The Portuguese manager, who has led Forest to third in the Premier League this season, is reportedly considering a two-year offer from Roma that promises an “ambitious technical project” aimed at immediate European competitiveness.

Nuno’s stock has risen dramatically since taking over Forest in December 2023.

After securing survival last season, he has transformed the club into a surprise European contenders, earning three Premier League Manager of the Month awards.

He has been praised for making Forest competitive despite possession statistics being among the lowest in the league

However, negotiations are complicated by Nuno’s contract with Forest, which runs until 2026?

Roma would need to negotiate a release fee, with Forest likely reluctant to lose their architect of success.

Other candidates, including Gian Piero Gasperini and Thiago Motta, remain in the mix, but Nuno is said to be the main target.
